After a very cold and early morning at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, my friend and I were getting hangry, the point when you should have eaten a long time ago. She found Rose’s Cafe on her iPhone near the “Mrs. Doubtfire House.” I just wanted something warm to eat. I checked in on Foursquare and found a tip from fellow blogger C’est Christine about the chicken sausage and polenta. I was sold.

It had a creamy polenta with a tomato broth, rosemary chicken sausage, poached egg and a tomato jam on top. It tasted a lot like shrimp and grits, a Southern dish from my former home of Charleston, South Carolina. The dish felt like breakfast, but was filling enough that you could have it any time of day. I washed it down with a bowl-sized hot chocolate.
